· 3 min read
FAT Karting League co-founder Rob Smedley talks about the mission behind FKL and what it means to bring competitive karting to more young drivers. Watch the full episode of Mission in Motion on YouTube.
Making karting more accessible
FKL is built around an arrive-and-drive model. Young drivers can get on track in equal karts without owning or maintaining their own machinery. Coaching and structured racing give them a way to learn, compete and measure their progress.
For Rob, the aim is to make the first step into motorsport more straightforward while keeping the focus on the driver. From Testing sessions through to championships, the pathway is designed to give young people the chance to develop on track.
FKL launches in Germany
That approach is now reaching Germany. The launch brings the FKL format to another country, with opportunities for young drivers to experience the karts and take part in events. Watch a look at the Germany launch below.
