The racing happens at the weekend. The work behind it happens all week. When you arrive at an FKL event, you see the racing — but there’s a whole team working behind the scenes to make that weekend possible.
Meet Cav
Cav is one of the mechanics at FKL UK, responsible for helping keep our karts safe, reliable and ready for the next event. When the karts return from a weekend of racing, they go through a thorough check of everything from the bodywork and chassis to the steering, axles and brakes.
What happens between events?
The team checks the chassis and bodywork for damage, makes sure the steering and axles are straight, and regularly inspects and replaces brake pads and other components.
Then there’s the technical side
Mechanics also work on mapping and overall parity. Because FKL is arrive-and-drive, consistency across the fleet matters, so drivers can focus on developing their skills and competing on track.
The part of FKL you don't always see
The mechanics preparing the fleet. The coaches planning and delivering driver development. The event team organising the weekend. There are a lot more people behind an FKL weekend than you might realise.
More than just putting kids in karts
Motorsport is engineering: problem solving, precision, data, consistency, maintenance and constant development. The chequered flag isn't where the work ends — it’s where the next cycle begins.
